Robert Bresson, guionista y director francés, publicó en 1976 el libro Notes sur le cinématographe (Notas sobre el cinematógrafo), en el que distinguía el cinematógrafo del cine. Él pensaba que el cine es una especie de teatro filmado, mientras que el cinematógrafo crea una escritura visual de imágenes en movimiento y de sonidos, relacionados a través del proceso de montaje.
Fallieció en París el 18 de diciembre de 1999, con 98 años.
Robert Bresson was a French filmmaker. In 1976 he published Notes sur le cinématographe (Notes on the cinematographer), in which he differentiated the cinematographer from cinema. He thought cinema is a kind of a filmmed theatre, while he believed the cinematographer creates a visual writing of moving images and sounds, linked through the process of montage.
Bresson died in Paris on the 18th of december of 1999, at the age of 98.
